How to Play Bingo

Bingo is a gambling game which is enjoyed by millions of people across the world. Like a lottery, it involves matching numbers on your card (like a lottery ticket), against those which are drawn from a Bingo machine. If you match the right amount or combination of numbers, you win a prize. What could be simpler? Well, let’s find out.

Playing Bingo in land-based clubs

In land-based clubs, players will actually purchase Bingo tickets, which are known as cards. They will contain all of “your numbers”. You cannot choose these numbers, they are given to you. Whenever a ball is called out, you must mark the number if you have it. The first player to mark all of the relevant numbers must call “Bingo” and have them checked before a prize is paid out. Only the first player to call receives the prize.

Playing Bingo online

Online Bingo makes things so much easier for players. Players simply purchase random cards (which work in the same was as in land-based Bingo), but they don’t need to check the numbers. The game will automatically do it for them, and if they are a winner, it will automatically hand them a prize. This modern form of Bingo is ideal for players who are unsure if they have won, are slow to call, or can’t be bothered checking their cards. It also allows you to purchase many cards at once, since you don’t have to check them manually.

75-ball Bingo

75-ball Bingo is played across the globe. Players will have cards that feature 25 squares on a 5×5 grid. Players will win if they complete lines or patterns, such as horizontal lines, vertical lines, diagonal lines, four corners, or a coverall (covering all numbers on a card).

80-ball Bingo

80-ball Bingo is favoured by American players. Again players can win with patterns (such as Xs, four corners, squares, etc), although the most common way to win is by filling out the entire card.

90-ball Bingo

90-ball Bingo is the UK’s most popular Bingo game. In order to win it, players need to either have one line, two lines, or a full house (every number on their card). These cards come in 3 rows, and often have gaps between the numbers. This makes it all the easier to complete a card, even though there are more numbers in use. One feature of 90-ball Bingo is the snowball, which is a top prize, and is paid out if you can call Bingo within a specific amount of numbers.
